Extending ACA Tax Credits: Write a Letter to the Editor
As the end of 2025 approaches, Kansans are facing a critical deadline: Congress must extend the enhanced ACA tax credits for people who get health insurance through the Marketplace before December 31 or thousands of families will see their health care costs skyrocket.
Over 200,000 Kansans get health coverage through the ACA Marketplace, and nearly all of them rely on these tax credits to make the coverage affordable. Losing these tax credits will put a strain on Kansans from every corner of our state.
You can make a difference right now by speaking up. Local newspapers are important places for sharing information about this deadline and why affordable health coverage matters. A letter to the editor can help your neighbors and community understand what is at stake.
How to write a letter to the editor:
Most letters to the editor are brief and can be submitted through an online form or email address.
- Choose which newspaper to submit your letter to. If you need help, you can use our list of Kansas newspapers. Check the requirements for their letters to the editor (LTEs) — many have strict word count requirements, usually around 150 words.
- Write your LTE. Here is a sample you can use to get started.
