The Alliance for a Healthy Kansas is hiring, and we wanted to share two openings we have with our community.

We’re looking for a Storybank Specialist to collect and share the personal health care stories of Kansans. This role also helps build relationships with people and communities across the state.

Job Announcement: Community Organizer

The Alliance for a Healthy Kansas Community Organizer leads the effort to engage and energize the public to advance policies that improve the health and wellbeing of Kansans. The Community Organizer plays a vital role in ensuring the success of community meetings around the state and maintaining relationships with advocates and grassroots organizations. This position requires the ability to travel and maintain relationships with people across Kansas with the purpose of building power in local communities to identify and achieve policy change in the area of access to affordable health care.

Kansans Rally against restrictions to public assistance programs

Advocates, medical providers and recipients of public assistance programs rallied Thursday at the Statehouse with a clear message: restricting access to these programs would hurt Kansans.

Senate Bill 363 imposes a sweeping set of steps to verify Kansans’ eligibility for the state’s medical and food assistance programs. April Holman, executive director for Alliance for a Healthy Kansas, said opponents disapprove of the whole bill, but have stronger concerns for two elements.

This position works in close collaboration with other Alliance team members to gather and share stories illustrating the difficulties facing low-income Kansans as they seek health care.
