No Laughing Matter: A night of Laughter, Community, and Health Care conversations
Health care costs are no joke, but we had plenty of laughs at our No Laughing Matter event.
On Thursday, August 27th, the Alliance for a Healthy Kansas brought the community together in Overland Park for a free evening of food, family-friendly activities, and comedy. The event was part of the One Nation, Overcharged campaign, bringing attention to the rising costs of health care.
Kansas City improv comedians took center stage for an evening of completely unscripted comedy, using audience suggestions to create stories inspired by the things that matter to the community, including the challenges of navigating our health care system.
While the evening was all about fun and laughs, it also created space for an important conversation. Too many Kansans are struggling with rising health care costs, medical bills, and barriers to getting the care they need. Bringing people together to share experiences and find ways to work together to make a difference is an important part of building a healthier Kansas.
Thank you to everyone who came out and made No Laughing Matter such a great night! We’re grateful to everyone who laughed with us, shared their experiences, and joined us in talking about how we can make health care more affordable and accessible for everyone.
